He has brought laurels both to Tamil Nadu and  India.  In order to recognize his unique achievement in conquering and retaining  the World Chess Championship crown a  number of times the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Selvi J Jayalalithaa is pleased to  honour him by sanctioning a cash reward of Rs.Two crores.
