During a debate in the state legislature, Ganeshkumar of the PMK told the assembly that the centre should take necessary steps to have the name Madras High Court changed to Tamizhaga High Court. Intervening, Ms Jayalalithaa explained why this was not possible. 

Praising Ms Jayalalithaa as the first ever Chief Minister to provide financial assistance for the poultries battered by a cyclone, CPM member Balakrishnan thanked her for the gesture.
