Unified office complexes for the registration department have been built at a cost of one crore 20 lakh rupees in Palayamkottai in Tirunelveli district.
Buildings for the department have been constructed at a cost of 28 lakh rupees each in the districts of Kanyakumari and Dindugal districts as well.
Ms Jayalalithaa inaugurated these office buildings through video conferencing from the secretariat in Chennai.
The office complexes are furnished with separate rooms with computers for the officials, store rooms for the registers, waiting rooms and rest rooms with modern facilities for the public, ramps to facilitate the entry of wheelchairs for the differently abled and the old, and clean drinking water.
Chief MinisterJayalalithaa also gave away appointment orders to 32 persons who are heirs of the deceased employees of the departments of registration and Commercial taxes, on compassionate grounds.
The persons who received their appointment orders thanked Ms Jayalalithaa.
The Minister for Commercial Taxes and registration, Law, Courts and Prisons, the Chief Secretary, Secretary to the department of Commercial taxes and registration and other senior officials were present on the occasion.
