An official release said Ms Jayalalithaa expressed profound grief and sorrow over the death of watchman N Rajendran, who was attacked by a wild elephant and died later at the hospital.

The Chief Minister expressed her condolences to the bereaved family and announced an assistance of three lakh rupees from the forest department.
