In a statement today, Ms Jayalalithaa expressed her sorrow and profound grief over the death of Head Constable S Arumugam and announced the assistance from the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund.

She also expressed her heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members of Arumugam.
