The Chief  Minister of Tamilnadu Ms Jayalalithaa has congratulated Vishwanathan Anand for winning the World Chess title crown for the fifth time when he defeated Isareli Boris Gelfand in the rapid  tie-breaks at Moscow yesterday.

Ms Jayalalithaa, who has all along been a champion of the cause of sports persons and has been doing a lot for the development of sports infrastructure in the state, said she was extremely happy to learn that Anand has won the world chess title after a breathtaking battle of wits.



In a letter to Anand, she said that she was glad to learn that he has won the World Chess Title for the fifth time, four times consecutively.



She added that he has won this much deserved title after intense, nerve-wracking rapid tie-breaker games and has proved his prowess in rapid and blitz chess. The Chief Minister congratulated him on this magnificent victory which has brought laurels both to Tamil Nadu and India.



She  wished that he continue to retain this title for many more years with divine Blessings.
