Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has condoled the death of a person who was trampled upon by a wild elephant in Theni district.

Ms Jayalalithaa said in a statement that Surulimuthu of Kullapa Kavundanpatti village in Theni district had been attacked by a wild elephant on the 17th of June. He died on the spot.



Condoling his death, she ordered a cash solatium of 3 lakh rupees from the forest department funds to the bereaved family.



Ms Jayalalithaa also condoled the death of one Sumathi of Ice House in Chennai, who died in a road accident on the 16th of June when a state run bus ran over the bicycle in which she was riding.
Ms Jayalalithaa announced a cash solatium of 1 lakh rupees from the chief minister's public relief fund to the family of Sumathi.
