In a statement, Ms Jayalalithaa said Yelumalai of Adyar in Chennai sustained injuries in his left hand after the wall of Chennai Metropolitan water supply and sewerage board office building in Adyar collapsed on him on the 31st of January. Despite intensive treatment, the left hand of Yelumalai had to be amputated through a surgery.
Ms Jayalalithaa expressed grief over the incident and ordered a financial assistance of one lakh rupees to Yelumalai from the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund.
