She appealed to the voters to make the other candidates including the DMK candidate lose their deposits in the by-poll.
In a statement, Ms Jayalalithaa said that the basic principle of Democracy was to focus on the needs of the people and plan schemes accordingly. She added, the DMK devised schemes only for the welfare of its own family during its regime.
She recalled with pride the victory of the AIADMK in the Tamil Nadu General assembly elections held last year which dispelled the dominance created by single family rule and put an end to the atrocities of the DMK.
She pointed out the various welfare schemes including costless rice, Old age pension hike, the Chief Minister's extended insurance scheme,the Chief Minister's Farmers protection scheme, Arasu cable TV at affordable cost, costless laptops for students, costless mixie, grinder, fan, milch cows and goats for farmers were devised focusing only on people's welfare, and were being implemented by the Government from the time she took charge as the Chief Minister of the state. She added that the Government has been taking stringent action against the land grabbers and ensured the return of such lands to the rightful owners.
Keeping in mind, the various welfare schemes being put into operation by the AIADMK Government, the people of Tamil Nadu enabled a landslide victory in the Tiruchy by-elections and the Tamil Nadu local body elections, Ms Jayalalithaa observed.
She said that the Sankarankovil by-poll was necessitated by the sudden demise of S Karuppasamy, and was scheduled to be held on the 18th of this month. She said that AIADMK candidate S Muthuselvi who was familiar to the people of Sankarankovil, would make an able administrator heeding to the requests of the people unlike the DMK candidate who has been charged with land grabbing. Ms Jayalalithaa appealed to the people of Sankarankovil assembly constituency to vote for the the AIADMK candidate S Muthuselvi and help her secure a massive victory in the by-polls to be held on the 18th of March considering all this. She also asked them to make the other candidates lose their deposits in the by-polls.
