Speaking in the state assembly, the Chief Minister also said that the AIADMK government would take all steps to establish the rights of Tamil Nadu and strive to get  the state its due share of water from Cauvery.

Replying to a special calling attention motion brought in the State assembly on the Cauvery issue, Ms Jayalalithaa asserted that Tamil Nadu would never allow Karnataka to build a new dam across Cauvery.  
Members, cutting across party lines, pledged their support to the Tamil Nadu government on the Cauvery issue.
