She said that the concerned Government departments had been pressed into action for effective relief measures.

Ms Jayalalithaa undertook the visit a day after announcing an 850 crore relief package for the cyclone-hit Cuddalore district. She made a survey of the affected areas and distributed relief assistance of 2 crore 85 lakh 46 thousand  rupees to 6 thousand 36 beneficiaries for the loss of human and cattle lives, damaged houses ,basic amenities like clothes and kerosene,damaged crops,for horticulture and for fisheries today.

In her brief address at a function held at a Mandapam in Cuddalore, Ms Jayalalithaa said the cyclone had caused extensive damage in the district. Reaching out to the the people, she assured  all necessary help from the Government for the people affected by the Thane cyclone storm.
