In press release today, the Tamil Nadu government noted that Vishwanathan Anand had won the World Chess Championship title for the fifth time and fourth time consecutively. The release further said that he had brought laurels both to Tamil Nadu and India. In order to recognize his unique achievement in conquering and retaining the World Chess Championship crown a number of times the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Ms. Jayalalithaa was pleased to honour him by sanctioning a cash reward of two crore rupees, the release added.
