The water release would help irrigate one lakh 3,500 acres of land.

In a statement today, the Chief Minister said she had received representations from the farmers for the release of water from the Bhavanisagar dam for irrigation. Accepting this, Ms Jayalalithaa has ordered release of water from the dam for the irrigation of lands under the Lower Bhavani Project Ayacut area in Erode, Tiruppur and Karur.
